50 Cent was one of several guests in attendance during a charitable roast aimed at Sean “Diddy” Combs. The Miami event, hosted last weekend (June 8), aimed to highlight an important cause, using comedy to draw audiences in. Taking place at the Dead Flamingo Pop Up in Little Havana, per the Miami Herald, the roast was a fundraiser to benefit the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
According to the outlet, while the G-Unit boss did not speak on stage, he laughed throughout the event, taking selfies with fans in the audience and sharing shots of his Branson Cognac. Comedians who did perform included Ricky Cruz, Lonnie Cox, and Drew Illa. Brittany Brave, the event’s co-host/producer and a domestic abuse survivor herself, used the experience to share how her talents allowed her a way out.
“[The Diddy scandal] is topical right now so it made sense to join the conversation in a productive way,” said Brave according to the Herald. “Comedy is what pulled me out of an abusive relationship that lasted for three years and it continues to help all of us make sense of life, especially the parts of it that sting.”
The 90-minute event had good-hearted intentions, however, a roast is still a roast. The outlet reported jokes included shots at the Bad Boy Entertainment mogul’s former stage name, Puffy, claiming “that’s how he leaves his girlfriends after every relationship.”
50 Cent’s continuous trolling of Combs comes as the Harlem native stands accused of multiple violent incidents, including rape and domestic abuse. His violent attack on his former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, was caught on tape and recently released to the public via CNN. He called the behavior “inexcusable,” in an apology video, taking “full responsibility,” and claiming he sought professional help and therapy.
Last month the “Many Men” performer revealed plans to release the Diddy Do It? documentary on Netflix, following a reported “massive” bidding war.
