Analog Obsession releases INDEQ, a freeware equalizer plugin for Windows and macOS.
Although we’ve already had EDComp, MythPre, and Attractor this year, news of another Analog Obsession release never fails to excite. This time, the treasured indie developer has released INDEQ, an inductor-based EQ plugin for macOS and Windows.
INDEQ is available in AU, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS (10.11 and higher) and Windows (10-11).

Many noteworthy hardware EQ units utilize inductors to achieve that classic, warm yet still punchy sound that defines an era of vintage gear.
Pultec’s EQP-1A passive EQ is a great example, and if you specifically want that Pultec character on a budget, check out Analog Obsession’s Poortec.
The EMI TG12345 console, loved by The Beatles and all who recorded at Abbey Road, is another good example of an inductor-based EQ design that helped define an era.
Analog Obsession has fully embraced the inductor-based experience by choosing to ignore non-linear processing.
The INDEQ interface looks great, and I’ve come to expect no less from this developer. It is a three-band EQ with each band offering +/- 15dB.
The Low Band offers Peak and Shelf modes at 35Hz, 60Hz, 100Hz, and 220Hz. Additionally, you have a high-pass filter available at 80Hz.
The Mid Band has a High Q mode, and offers ranges of 0.2kHz, 0.35kHz, 0.7kHz, 1.5kHz, 3kHz, and 6kHz. The High Band offers Peak and Shelf modes at 8kHz and 16kHz.
You can bypass the plugin using the I/O switch.
Having thrown a few random tracks of various styles at INDEQ to get an early indication of the plugin’s character, it’s a really lovely way to get a punchy bassline that drives the song without becoming overbearing.
Although it’s inspired by classic devices, INDEQ works well on more modern genres, including things like synthwave (anything that needs a punchy bass sound will love INDEQ).
As excited as we get for Analog Obsession releases, there’s probably an element of taking them for granted because we have such high expectations.
With that in mind, when downloading the plugin, consider becoming a Patreon of Analog Obsession; free and paid tiers are available.
