On Sunday, Angelicvibes dropped Basshead Mini, a free 808 and deep bass synth for trap, pop, and electronic music.
The plugin is a macOS and Windows release for VST and AU.
Basshead Mini is a super simple plugin with essential controls like attack, release, pitch, output, and distortion.

There are 10 presets, which are made up of five 808 and five deep bass presets.
Angelicvibes produced a Basshead Mini official demo for YouTube, and there are also several user demos available on the ‘Tube.

Basshead Mini has a boomy, phat sound to it that would be right at home for hip-hop, dubstep and pop songs.
To my ears, the synth sounds best when the signal has been given a bit of dirt. When pushed, it becomes more edgy, but it’s not what I’d call an aggressive bass plugin.
One area for improvement with Basshead Mini is that the controls and fonts are tiny, making them hard to see. The issue is exacerbated by the fact that the interface is very low contrast.
With my computer screen at maximum brightness, I can barely make out the controls, and they disappear entirely when the brightness is reduced.

To land yourself the plugin, just hit the macOS or Windows download buttons on the product page and provide a name and email.
As soon as you hit submit, the selected zip file will instantly start downloading.
The download sizes are 85.5 MB for macOS and 77.2 MB for Windows.
Note that if you’re using a privacy-based browser, you might have to change to another browser to get the download button to pop up and work normally.
With a name like Basshead Mini, you may have guessed there’s also a full version, in which case you’d be correct.
The full Basshead 808 and bass rompler plugin is “coming soon,” and Angelicvibes has already put up a teaser product page and demo for the release.
The full version has 100 presets and allows deeper customization through an additional control section.
The additional control section features the following parameters: Distortion, Room, Chorus, Spread, Filter, and Glide.
If you like what you have heard from Angelicvibes so far, you may want to check out their substantial collection of free sample packs, loops, and presets.
The developer typically focuses its releases around sounds for hip hop, and the freebies are no exception.
