Baby Audio has slashed the price of its AI-powered tape plugin TAIP for Black Friday, bringing it down to just $9.99 (from the usual $99) until December 8th.
TAIP isn’t a new release (it’s been around for four years – time flies!), but it remains one of Baby Audio’s most popular plugins, and I think the Black Friday discount makes it worth revisiting.
We reviewed TAIP back in 2021, and if you want a deep dive into how the AI processing works and how the features stack up, you can check out that full BPB review for more details.
At its core, TAIP aims to recreate the warmth, movement, and musical grit of analog tape without leaning on traditional DSP modelling. Instead, Baby Audio trained a neural network to understand what actually happens when audio hits a real tape machine.

The result is a tape emulation that feels different from the “classic DSP tape sound” we’re all used to. It’s more organic in some places, more unpredictable in others.
I’ve always liked that TAIP encourages you to push things a bit harder than you might with other tape plugins.
The Drive control ranges from subtle coloration to full-tilt saturation, and with Auto Gain keeping levels in check, it’s easy to experiment. If you want even more edge, flipping the input to Hot adds satisfying grit.
TAIP is also surprisingly flexible beyond basic saturation. Wear introduces the wobble, loss of fidelity, and frequency shifts you’d expect from a machine that’s seen better days.
Increasing the Mix while adjusting Wear can produce that classic tape flanging effect, which is great for synths, vocals, or even adding a bit of motion to a drum bus.
Other controls like Noise, Presence, Glue, and the Hi/Lo Shape sliders give you lots of room to fine-tune tone and behavior.

And as James pointed out in our full review, the Glue control is especially useful. It’s not just a “tape vibe” button. It also works as a handy little tool to nudge a drum loop or bass line into a more cohesive pocket.
For anyone who likes having options, TAIP also includes Single and Dual models under the hood. Dual mode splits the Drive between two virtual tape stages, adding extra weight and harmonic complexity.
TAIP is available in AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon) and Windows. You’ll need an internet connection for authorization, and the sale price runs through December 8th.
If you missed TAIP the first time around, or want a creative tape flavor that feels a little different, this Black Friday deal is a no-brainer.
