Behringer’s BCR32 is finally available to pre-order: features, price and availability

After a five year wait, Behringer’s highly-anticipated BCR32 MIDI controller is now available to pre-order.

Back in 2021, Behringer announced on social media that it was set to revise its BCR2000 controller after 15 years as the BCR32, with a host of modern upgrades and, most notably, with a key contribution from ZAQ Audio.

The BCR2000 was released in 2004. An original Behringer product, it went on to become somewhat of a cult classic due not only to its affordable price point, but also its deep programmability, control, and the fact that it was embraced by none other than Daft Punk.

So, what’s new in the BCR32 version? And how do you get your hands on one? Find out all the details below…

Behringer BCR32 MIDI controller features

Starting with the all important contribution from ZAQ Audio, the BCR32 is now officially accompanied by the Zaquencer firmware that was created as an alternative firmware for the BCR2000 back in the day, which transformed the controller into a 32-step sequencer. Due to this, the BCR32 will allow users to switch between controller and sequencer modes without having to modify the device.

The controller’s 32 freely assignable multifunction rotary controls are accompanied by LED colour-coded rings, and other key features include eight push encoders with dual functionality, 20 programmable buttons, and storage for up to 192 patterns. Users also get two independent MIDI controls per track (Program Change, Aftertouch, Pitch Bend, CC), four virtual encoder groups, and a small OLED display.

Connectivity options are:

  • MIDI In + 2x MIDI Out / 1x MIDI Thru
  • 4x CV/Gate output: 3.5 mm mini jack
  • Sync input and output: 3.5 mm mini jack
  • 2 freely assignable footswitch input 6.3 mm jack
  • 2x USB-C (power supply / data transfer)
