Boom Library just announced that the StereoLab giveaway is back in motion, with 20,000 free licenses available. Unless the free licenses are depleted earlier, the giveaway will end on October 24th.
This announcement comes roughly a week after the initial StereoLab giveaway, which was plagued by technical issues. This left many users without a free license, as Boom Library’s website was trying to cope with the (obviously unexpected) high amounts of traffic.
Our comments section was filled with negative reactions, which wasn’t surprising, considering many users were left empty-handed after trying to get a free copy of StereoLab.
While some BPB readers managed to claim a free license while the Boom Library website was still operational, many others either couldn’t finalize the checkout or simply didn’t receive a free license due to server timeouts.
Hopefully, things will run smoother this time. Boom Library makes some of the best plugins and sample libraries on the market, and chances are the second attempt at the giveaway will be much better than the first.
In case you missed the first announcement, here’s a quick look at StereoLab.
StereoLab is a stereo imaging plugin for sound design and music production. It features four key modules: Widen, Stereo, M/S (Mid/Side), and Width, each allowing detailed stereo manipulation.
The modules can be rearranged freely, so it’s easy to customize the signal flow according to your needs. I love it when multi-effect plugins make it possible to rearrange the effects, as the order in which an effect is applied is often crucial, especially when working with stereo processing.
The included modules are pretty straightforward. The Widen module creates a side signal without affecting the mid, while the M/S module enables motion and depth by adjusting mid and side elements.
The Stereo module offers control over left/right panning, delay, and balance. Width allows for independent control of low and high-frequency stereo width. A built-in vectorscope provides visual feedback on the stereo effects in real-time.
StereoLab will cost $89 after the free promo ends. The effect is available in 64-bit AU, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS and Windows.
