You can now get Circvit’s Circvit Bass five-string bass virtual instrument as a free download.

The freebie release is for macOS and Windows in VST3, VST, AU, and AAX formats.

Circvit Bass was created by sampling the Legator Wraith 37” multi-scale five-string bass, which has Fishman Fluence Modern active humbuckers.

The extended range bass plugin was recorded and developed by Dennis Juenemann, the bassist of German prog metal act Circvit.

As you might expect, given its origin, Circvit Bass is perfect for producers looking for some crushingly phat tones.

Juenemann recorded 1000 samples for the plugin via SSL, covering a range from E0 to G4.

There are three articulations, namely alternative picking, downstrokes, and upstrokes.

Sound-wise, there are four preprocessed libraries, which are DI, clean, crunch, and drive.

The minimalist control scheme features four main knobs, which are: Master, Bass, Treble, and Human (humanizer).

To get the freebie, download the macOS or Windows zipped installers straight from the product page via a single click each.

The macOS and Windows installers come in at 692 MB and 729 MB, respectively.

After downloading, you can check out the included readme file for installation instructions.

Juenemann launched Circvit Bass on January 4, 2025.  He created two demos featuring Circvit Bass, which you can hear on Circvit’s Instagram. The demos were posted in January and July 2025.

There is also at least one longer-form user demo showing the plugin in action on YouTube.

Circvit Bass appears to be Circvit’s first plugin. They have more planned, though, as Circvit Snare is marked as coming soon on the plugins section on the band’s website.

I think this is a pretty cool indie plugin release. Free extended-range bass for metal is quite the niche area for plugins, so it’s nice to get coverage of this for anyone looking to get some crushing low-end tones without breaking the bank.

The control scheme is very simple, but you can always add additional processing to it if you want the plugin to cover a broader sonic territory.

Legator Guitars is a California-based independent luthier that focuses on extended-range instruments.

The Legator Wraith 37” bass (listed at €1.549) appears to be discontinued, and has an ash body, one-piece roasted maple neck, richlite composite fingerboard, and Legator tuners and bridge.

The included active Fishman Fluence pickups are made to deliver consistency, articulation, and a full dynamic range.
