Fred Gillham has been promoted to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer at Concord Label Group, the recorded music division of US-headquartered music company Concord.

Reporting to Concord Label Group Chief Executive Tom Becci, “Gillham serves as an integral part of the group’s senior executive team,” the company said on Wednesday (September 17).

In his new role as COO, Gillham is directly responsible for Concord’s label services teams.

Gillham will be based in Concord’s Los Angeles office.

According to Concord Label Group, its services team “is a key differentiator in the marketplace, especially when it comes to the collaborative experience for artists, and their teams, to achieve their goals and maximize the reach of releases — scale without compromising on control”.

“Fred has the uncommon ability to understand and anticipate the needs of the artists he serves and develop the necessary plans and systems to help them achieve their goals.”

The press release announcing his promotion on Wednesday (September 17) added that Gillham’s team “serves as an extension of Concord’s labels” to “provide the reach that enables the labels to maintain global responsibility for their release campaigns”.

Concord’s labels include Concord Records, Easy Eye Sound, Fearless Records, Loma Vista Recordings, PULSE Records, Rounder Records, Concord Theatricals Recordings, and Craft Recordings, as well as the KIDZ BOP brand.

Gillham joined Concord in 2019 as Managing Director of the UK, opening Concord’s first UK Label Group office.

He oversaw numerous successful artist campaigns including Ghost, Chase Atlantic, The Offspring, Tears for Fears, Tommy Richman, and Sierra Ferrell.

Before joining Concord, Gillham spent over a decade at Universal Music Group, where he was VP, International, managing global campaigns within UMG across a variety of repertoire from both UMG labels and their partners.

“Fred has the uncommon ability to understand and anticipate the needs of the artists he serves and develop the necessary plans and systems to help them achieve their goals,” said Tom Becci, Chief Executive, Concord Label Group.

“This ability, combined with his talent for building great teams, makes him perfectly suited for this new role.”

Gillham added: “It’s been an incredible journey since joining Concord in 2019.  We have successfully proved the concept of our global approach to marketing and I’m excited to push that even further in this new role.

“Our setup and approach are totally unique in the market, and the mission is to use that to be even more competitive, both in scaling up our frontline business, and continuing to develop our already best-in-class approach to catalogue marketing.

“I must thank Tom for this incredible opportunity. I’m very excited about the future of Concord Label Group.”

Elsewhere at Concord Label Group, in September last year, the Concord Records and Fantasy Records brands merged under the unified Concord Records banner, led by Co-Presidents Margi Cheske and Mark Williams.

In addition to Concord Records, Concord Label Group’s active labels include Fearless Records, Loma Vista Recordings, Rounder Records, Easy Eye Sound, Concord Records, Concord Jazz, and PULSE Records.

PULSE Records was launched as a joint-venture label with PULSE Music Group in June 2023, and has seen success in the US and globally this year with the Tommy Richman hit Million Dollar Baby (PULSE Records/ ISO Supremacy).

Concord Label Group’s historical labels are managed by its Craft Recordings team, and include storied imprints like Fania, Independiente, Milestone, Musart, Nitro, Pablo, Prestige, Riverside, Savoy, Specialty, Stax, Telarc, Varèse Sarabande, Vee-Jay, Victory and Wind-up.

Concord’s catalog comprises 1.3 million songs, compositions, sound recordings. The company works with more than 125,000 artists and songwriters.Music Business Worldwide
