Chaos Audio is offering seven pedal plugins for free in their Freebie Plugin Bundle, which includes reverb, drive, delay, and EQ.
I don’t know about you, but I find it harder to find guitar pedal-style plugins. There have been lots of amp sims but not too many emulations of pedals.
There are, of course, other plugins you can use in place of guitar pedals, but often, they have too many controls. The beauty of guitar pedals is that (most often), they have a few controls but still tons of versatility.
Let’s take a look at the plugins in this bundle.
Apollo is an “asymmetrical clipping overdrive.” It can produce a variety of tones, from clean boost to crunchy to more distorted lead sounds.

It has 3 simple knobs. Drive controls the amount of breakup, Level is an output gain control, and Tone changes the overall brightness.
Starlight is a shimmer reverb “designed to produce the wonder of staring up at the night sky.” It’s a lush, ambient reverb that’s perfect for pads or atmospheric lead guitars and such.
It sort of reminds me of the Valhalla Shimmer, which is a classic plugin. Starlight can make similar sounds in a more compact UI.
Starlight has 4 controls. Space (reverb size), Lumens (shimmer amount), Tone and Mix
Cassini is a “harmonic reverb”. It can create huge and lush soundscapes with added rich harmonics that create a unique tone.
It has 4 controls: Space (reverb size), Gamma (reverb trail harmonics), Tone, and Mix.
Transit is a “true digital delay with pure digital high-res repeats.” And it is perfect for dialing in the repeats exactly how you want them to.
Transit features 4 knobs, Time (which can be tempo-synced), Repeats (amount of repeats), Tone and Mix.
Booster is what it says on the tin. It’s a clean boost pedal with a single Boost control to drive the front of an amp or anything, really.
Spectrometer is a 6-band EQ with frequencies specifically picked for guitar, so you can dial in your tone efficiently.
The 6 frequencies are: 100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 1.6kHz, and 3.2kHz each +/- 12dB of range.
And finally, Spectrobass is a 7-band bass EQ created by Martin Bartlett. It offers 15dB of cut or boost at 50Hz, 120Hz, 400Hz, 500Hz, 800kHz and 4.5kHz. It also has a 10kHz shelf.
Chaos Audio plugins are available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats for Windows and macOS machines.
