AmpliTube is back with one of its more enjoyable giveaways! AmpliTube 5 CS is the free version of their AmpliTube 5 guitar and bass workstation.
This September, you can get three premium rack effects free of charge! The offer is meant for new users, but fear not. We have a trick here at BPB for those of you who already own AmpliTube!
To score the freebies as an existing user, try opening the IK Multimedia Product Manager, unauthorize AmpliTube 5 CS, and then re-authorize it. Clicking on ‘refresh your purchases’ can also help here.
BPB readers report that this method only works if your current device is the only one that has Amplitube 5 CS authorized on it.
If you have a dead device with an old authorization of Amplitube 5 CS still on it, unfortunately, there does not appear to be any way to work around that roadblock.

This month’s offer contains the following units:
- Dense Metal Plate Reverb
- Model 670
- Vintage EQ-1 A
Dense Metal Plate Reverb is pretty self-explanatory. It replicates the sound of a mechanical plate reverb. Perfect for lush, smooth sounds. Try it on vocals or on your drum kit!
Design your reverb with size and decay controls. Craft additional separation and space with the pre-delay and color knobs.
This plugin also features a nifty high-pass filter that eliminates rumble and mud, preventing them from ruining your sound (and your mix). Keep that reverb under control, people!
Lastly, there’s a mix control to blend your dry and wet signals.
You guessed it: Model 670 is yet another emulation of the mystical, legendary, and always relevant Fairchild 670 compressor. It has an input control, 6 different timing controls, a threshold, and an output stage.
This setup is actually really nice for a fast and effective workflow. The extra harmonics and signature dynamic action are the cherry on top.
A/B-ing nano-second differences of attack and release times usually does more harm than good. Limitations, on the other hand, have a strange way of yielding constructive, creative, and cool results most of the time.
If the Fairchild 670 is good enough for the best, it’s probably good enough for you, too. Be sure to give it a try!
Finally, we have the Vintage EQ-1 A. Some hate it, while most people love it – I’m talking about the famous Pultec equalizer. Vintage EQ-1 A is AmpliTubes’ own emulation of this classic tube-based unit.
Expect huge, smooth, and “musical” curves, some sheen, and delicious harmonics.
No write-up on the Pultec emulations is complete without mentioning the classic Pultec cut/boost trick for a massive low-end sound with a nice dip in the low mids.
Try setting the low band at 20, 30, or 60 while boosting and cutting approximately the same amount. This thing isn’t linear!
If you’re in the market for crazy effects, and old school emulations just don’t do the trick, try rePedal by Sampleson. It’s an AI-based pedal maker for fuzzy and weird sounds. Every instance is unique!
AmpliTube 5 CS works with both macOS and Windows in AU, VST, and AAX formats. You’ll need to register an account and download the installation manager. Authorize your brand new software, click recharge, and start making music.
