HY-Plugins has released HY-MBMFX3 for Windows, macOS, and Linux, along with a free version that offers plenty of creative power for sound design enthusiasts.
HY-MBMFX3 is a modular multiband multi-effects processor that can split your signal into up to three frequency bands, applying different effects to each band independently.
This lets you sculpt everything from subtle tonal enhancements (but with a lot more precision) to complex effects that completely transform the source signal.
The free version is a streamlined take on the full plugin, but still packs enough features to be genuinely useful. You get seven FX processors, three modulators, eight macros, and the standard three-band mode.
The modular structure means you can freely combine and route modules, and the macros make it easy to control multiple parameters at once.
The seven FX types in the free edition give you a solid starting palette for creative sound shaping, while the three available modulators can still modulate almost any parameter in the chain. The routing system keeps things flexible without being overwhelming.

If you want the complete HY-MBMFX3 experience, the full version expands to 41 FX processors, 11 modulator types, and additional routing options. It’s built for deeper sound design, with more effects, more modulation possibilities, and extra flexibility in how you split and process your signal.
While the paid edition is currently $42 at the intro price (regularly $60), the free version is well worth grabbing even if you don’t plan to upgrade. It offers a taste of the modular workflow and multiband processing without any financial commitment.
HY-MBMFX3’s resizable UI works well across different screen setups, and its modular system will feel familiar if you’ve used similar FX environments. Even with the limited number of modules in the free edition, I found it easy to put together creative FX chains that react dynamically to your input signal.
HY-MBMFX3 Free is available for Windows (VST2, VST3 64-bit), macOS (VST2, VST3, AU 64-bit, macOS 10.14+, Universal Binary 2 with M1 support), and Linux (VST2, VST3 64-bit, Ubuntu 22.04+).
