J. Prince has offered his thoughts on his name being brought up during Young Thug‘s ongoing RICO trial.
The Rap-A-Lot Records founder’s name was mentioned by the prosecution as they cross examined key witness Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland while he was on the stand testifying under oath.
Copeland was questioned about comments he had given to detectives that “Thug was trying to be like the J. Prince of Atlanta,” to which he responded: “I guess. I don’t know. I told you for the 10th time, I’m gonna tell the police anything, and that’s what I did.”
J. Prince did not appreciate his name being brought up in the trial, posting the footage of the courtroom exchange on Instagram and commenting: “Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to fake-ass people putting my name in their mouth.
“But I still find it very interesting how some prosecutors will go above and beyond the call of duty to try and destroy a man’s life for being inspired by a successful Black entrepreneur like myself.”
He added: “Btw, Black-on-Black racism feels the worst. #freeyoungthug.”
Copeland previously admitted to lying on the stand to try and keep himself out of prison.
“Like I told you before y’all called me to trial, I have lied,” he said. “I made things up. I told you this before y’all brought me in this courtroom, and I’m telling you now. You asked me about 2015. I had got my life together. Y’all are trying to put this on my conscience, y’all are trying to put people’s lives in my hands.”
He continued: “I don’t wanna be here. Y’all have pressured me, I’m tired of y’all, cause y’all know y’all wrong, and y’all Black people doing this to us”
Copeland also denied that he’s now trying to help Young Thug out, adding that he doesn’t “care nothing about him,” per FOX.

Young Thug and YSL’s RICO case is the longest trial in Georgia state history and is on its second judge after Ural Glanville was recused over a meeting with Copeland and prosecutors without informing the defense.
He has since been replaced by Paige Reese Whitaker who has also denied Thugger bail, meaning the rapper has been behind bars since his initial arrest in May 2022.
He faces over half a dozen charges ranging from conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participation in criminal street gang activity to gun and drug offenses.
