JUCE is the industry-standard framework for audio plugin development, used by some of the biggest and best names in the industry. And now, they have launched a free audio plugin development course for beginners.

If you have a look at the JUCE website, you’ll find a long list of companies using JUCE, including Arturia, Avid, iZotope, Valhalla DSP, UAD, and many more.

Don’t forget to claim your free UA 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection before the limited-time offer ends (it’s still available at the time of writing – Jan 19th, 2026).

This free course isn’t the typical sort of freebie we cover here, but I absolutely love it.

JUCE created this course in collaboration with Jan Wilczek, an excellent educator and founder of WolfSound Academy.

YouTube video

The course aims to take you from a complete beginner to a competent developer, ready to bring your ideas to life.

It’s for everyone, even if you have no prior experience or knowledge.

The course provides 50 video lessons across eight modules, covering topics such as:

  • Plugin development basics (formats, DAW interaction, testing, etc.)
  • Audio processing (digital audio basics, LFOs, tremolo, etc.)
  • Plugin parameters (saving/loading plugin state in DAW, preset basics, etc.)
  • Plugin diagnostics (debugging, compiler warnings, etc.)
  • GUI (widgets, styling, themes, etc.)

Plugin distribution (optimization, code signing & notarization basics, etc.)

So, it covers everything you need to know to create your plugin, make sure it sounds and looks right, and share it with others.

The video lessons are accompanied by assignments and quizzes to test what you’ve learned.

There are sixteen special assignments, and you’ll get to create your first audio plugin during the course: a tremolo plugin.

To sign up for the free course, just enter your email address on the sign-up page. Once you’ve done that, you’ll fill in a registration form to set your login details, etc., and you’re good to go.

Joining the course means you’ll get lifetime access to all course materials and free access to future modules.

You’ll get a certificate of completion at the end of the course, and who knows where that could lead.

Free access to a course like this one could be the push someone needs to release their first plugin, or even pursue further education or a career in plugin development.

It’s an incredibly worthwhile venture from JUCE, and I hope plenty of people will make use of it.
