Klaus Scheuermann has released PodcastPlugins, a free plugin bundle designed to simplify speech processing for podcasters on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

As regular BPB readers might know, I’m always interested in plugins designed with a specific purpose in mind, or as I like to call them, specialty plugins.

While all-purpose EQs, compressors, and limiters are great, I especially appreciate tools that combine multiple processing stages to solve a real-world problem—like making your voice sound better without needing a degree in audio engineering.

That’s exactly what PodcastPlugins offers: a streamlined speech enhancement toolkit for those who might not be audio-savvy. The bundle includes two plugins—PodcastPlugins Track and PodcastPlugins Master, each designed to solve a different issue in a typical podcast production chain.

PodcastPlugins Track is intended for use on individual vocal tracks. It handles leveling, EQ, and dynamics in one go, so each speaker’s voice can be processed independently and with super intuitive controls.

PodcastPlugins Master is applied to the master channel, and it can help you finalize the vocal mix by controlling levels and applying overall tone shaping and dynamics.

What stands out to me is the user-friendly interface. The GUI is clean and unobtrusive, with a gray backdrop and teal/purple highlights that are easy on the eyes.

There’s a global enable/disable switch for all plugin instances, making A/B testing simple, along with helpful volume meters to prevent clipping.

The controls are super intuitive. The “Timbre” knob lets you go from warmer to brighter tones, while the “Style” knob shifts from a natural sound to a more compressed, “radio-ish” vibe.

These self-explanatory controls make it easy to dial in a professional podcast sound without worrying about how the plugin handles the audio “under the hood.”

Both plugins default to settings that will work for most voices right out of the box, but you still have the option to tweak input gain and target loudness levels if needed. It’s a great starting point for anyone new to podcasting or those who just want their workflow to be as painless as possible.

You can download the installers for Windows, macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), and Linux directly from the project’s GitHub page. The source code is also available if you’d rather compile the plugins yourself. PodcastPlugins support a wide range of formats, including VST, VST3, LV2, CLAP, and AU.
