Mutagene releases Xoradora resynthesizing drum machine (open beta)

Mutagene has released the open beta of a 16-pad drum machine built entirely around resynthesis. The plugin analyzes a loaded sample and rebuilds it using one of 7 parametric sound models rather than applying post-processing effects.

Xoradora lets each model take a different analytical view of the source material, from separating attack and body to isolating ringing tones or learning percussive roles.

Depending on your goals and the model used, you can tweak drums slightly – as if changing the shape of the resonating body, or the interaction between the different physical elements which comprise it – or you can tear them apart entirely to be reformed into novel alien sounds or rhythmic sources.

Xoradora is available in VST3, AU, and CLAP plugin formats and as a standalone app for macOS and Windows, priced at €44 EUR/$49 USD during the beta period.
