Sometimes you finish a mix and everything about it is great – but there’s still something missing. It needs some life; it needs some movement; it needs that extra something special. Finding that little bit extra is what separates good mixers from great ones, but a lot of it is about the tools they use that makes experimenting worthwhile. A unique plugin that can definitely add that fairy dust is the new Parrot from Klevgrand.

Parrot is a cross between a sampler and a sequencer that acts as a very unique delay. Think of a delay with timed but unusual repeats that can be pitched and processed.
Both Sampler and Sequecer
There are two sections: The sampler and the sequencer. The sampler allows you to sample as much or as little of a track as you want, and even add fades to keep it clean. The 16 step sequencer then gives you the ability to repeat the sample while processing it and/or changing the pitch of any of the steps.
You can select the number of steps, note values, and emphasis, then process each with effects or pitch change, and even add sequenced panning.
Needless to say, what Parrot does can be pretty abstract unless you hear it, which is why I suggest that you watch the video at the end.
This is a plugin that rewards experimentation, especially when you’re looking for that extra ear candy that really propels the song to become something brand new. It also makes getting a delay sound that you have in head out into the world without a complex setup.
Parrot works on Macs and PCs and is available on all plugin formats. It’s currently carries an introductory price of just $29.99 (normally $49.99).
