How do you make the ultimate channel strip? You give it multiple interchangeable modules so that you can select just the right one for each application. That’s exactly what you’ll find with the latest v1.4 edition of PSP InfiniStrip Earth (v1.4.0).

PSP InfiniStrip Earth channel strip plugin

If you’re not familiar with InfiniStrip already, it offers 26 modules covering preamp, EQ, compression, limiting, filters, gate/expander/ducking, and even a few specialty modules like a de-esser and de-hummer. You can put these together in any order to create your own custom channel strip, and with zero latency as well.

As if that wasn’t enough, the new Earth edition introduces five powerful new modules, which include:

  • Levelizer – A level-rider–type module for dynamic track balancing
  • SnapForger – Transient and decay control for precise shaping of attack and release characteristics
  • TiltEQ – A tilt and contour equalizer for intuitive tonal shaping
  • Enhancer – Dynamic low- and high-frequency processing for subtle enhancement without harshness
  • BigBass – A dedicated sub-bass synthesizer to extend low-end impact

Of these new modules, I think that I find Levelizer the most intriguing, since this type of dynamics control plugin has found a use in more and more mixes. BigBass as well, since a sub-bass generator is now used to fill out the girth end of both kick and bass in these days of marginally recorded content.

All the modules, both from the Earth and previous editions, are visually appealing and easy to use. Of course, the sound quality for all PSP plugins is hard to beat and always sounds great.

The idea of being able to configure the modules as needed just as you would with an analog 500 series rack is appealing, and it’s way more convenient in software.

PSP InfiniStrip Earth works on both Macs and PCs and on all plugin formats. It has a special introductory price of $99 ($199 after December 31st). Yes, there’s a 30 day free trial available.
