There’s a new generation of plugins where you can manipulate multiple functions and effects with just one or two knobs for fast and easy setup. Most of the time they’ll get you in the ballpark, but if you’re doing serious mixing they really won’t get you close enough much of the time. There is one area where that approach is really worth it though, and that’s when you’re trying to get a sound from a previous era. UJAM Finisher Retro makes that process fun, fast. and easy with just enough tweakability to get a thumbs-up from even persnickety mixers.

The idea is that if you have a situation where you think, “How do I get that 60s (or 70/80/90s) vibe in my track?”, then Finisher Retro makes it easy. Bottom line, this is for anyone looking to add a dirty, analog-style vibe to their digital tracks and samples.
Finisher Retro has 50 modes presented in decades, from 60s through the 90s, and 100 individual presets created from those modes. The various modes have captured the classic reverbs, delays, flangers, tubes, tape hiss and magic so you don’t have to call up individual plugins and manipulate them manually.
Each of its modes is a signal chain of up to 20 interconnected sound modules. Most of the adjustment to the sound is done with the Finisher knob in the middle, but there are four other controls with different functions, depending upon the mode that’s chosen. These variation knobs target different parameters within each of the effects chains, and the labels for each changes to indicate what each control does.
It’s a clever piece of kit, and what makes it even better is that it’s FREE until December 7th. You can get it here, and find out even more about it here. Or you can watch the video below to hear it for yourself.
Yes, it works on Mac and PC and on most plug formats.
