Regina Hall just gave fans the update they’ve been thirsting for: Girls Trip 2 is officially inching closer to theaters. The beloved actress gave the update while sipping and chatting at a cozy summer cookout hosted by Bounty Paper Towels at The Arlo Hotel in SoHo on June 25. Hall confirmed to VIBE that the sequel is finally heating up behind the scenes.
“I know they’re writing it… the studio is very excited to get it going. I would imagine it’s probably the closest to being in the works that it has been,” she shared.
Directed by Malcolm D. Lee, the sequel to the 2017 box office smash has been on fans’ radar since the first installment. So, according to Hall, fans can continue to anticipate the chaos, adventures, and comedic relief that she, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish created in the original flick. But the cookout convo didn’t stop at movie teasers. The Scary Movie star also got real about cleaning up life’s messes — literal and emotional — as part of her partnering with Bounty, known for their “quicker-picker-upper” paper towels. The seasoned actress shared that teaming up with the brand felt personal and even nostalgic. “It feels like an ode to my childhood,” she said. “If my mom were here, she’d be really proud… she was always about her Bounty.”
In true Hall fashion, she didn’t just “talk the talk” — she demoed how to reuse a single Bounty sheet like a domestic champ. “You can reuse them because they’re super absorbent,” she explained, noting that water alone isn’t enough reason to toss it. “That right there is going to dry completely, and then you can use it again,” she added, showing just how sustainable and practical the towels are.
When the conversation turned to the metaphorical messes — like heartbreak — the 54-year-old didn’t flinch. “I wish somebody could pick up a heartbreak,” she said candidly. “But you gotta go through all the stages.” She also shared her secret to bouncing back from life’s challenges, saying, “You just gotta say yes to the no.”
