New York-based emcee River Nelson is back with his latest track/visual, ME & DAD ON THE DOCKS, produced by California-based AltoBeats
‘Me & Dad on the Docks‘ is the second single from River Nelson’s upcoming EP, ‘Mental Notes’, produced by his longtime collaborator AltoBeats.
This heartfelt track is a vivid and touching recollection of River’s childhood fishing trips with his father. Through descriptive storytelling, he not only brings these beachside memories to life but also weaves in the invaluable life lessons his dad imparted to him during their time on the sea-battered docks.
“Deep talks over deep waters about life’s path / We might laugh as time pass a striped bass might splash / We might catch, but when not, my pops would say don’t stop / Or get distraught if nothing’s caught, we’ll just come back to the docks”,
Raps River, painting a nostalgic picture.
Reflecting on ‘Me & Dad on the Docks’, River shares, “I wanted to create a song that honors the incredible life-lessons my father taught me as a kid, without making it overly sentimental, but rather celebratory. My goal was to capture the place, the time, and the essence of those moments in a way that feels real and immersive”.
‘Mental Notes’ is the upcoming EP from River Nelson. As the title suggests, the project is a reflection of his thoughts on today’s world, human connections, life, art, and the ongoing journey of personal growth.
The EP features production from OVL Lorde (Florida), AltoBeats (California), and Shaan Angel (UK), who produced the first single, ‘Flying‘.
‘Mental Notes’ is set for release in late spring 2025.
