As the year winds down, we’ve seen some amazing talent leave us in 2024 though their musical memories remain quite prominent and are worth celebrating.

The biggest name to pass in early 2024 was Dickey Betts, the legendary guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer with the Allman Brothers Band. News of the musician’s death arrived on April 18.

Another major loss came with the legendary guitarist Wayne Kramer of MC5 fame. Sadly, the group’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction came after Kramer passed earlier this year.

The summer brought the deaths of several other name rockers, including Crazy Town‘s Shifty Shellshock, Great White‘s Jack Russell and ’80s hitmaker Greg Kihn among others, while the fall included the losses of onetime Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di’Anno, Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh and iconic producer and musician Quincy Jones.
