SaschArt has released multiDelay Free, a freeware stereo delay plugin for Windows and macOS.
SaschArt is a very active indie plugin developer who has been quietly building a solid collection of free VST plugins for years. While his releases often fly under the radar, we’ve featured many of them on BPB—and for good reason.
If you’re new to SaschArt’s creations, check out ReverseDelay and SweepDelay. They’re packed with interesting features, easy to download, and don’t require any account or activation shenanigans.
multiDelay Free continues that trend. It’s a creative stereo delay unit with a few quirks that make it stand out. The interface is functional but a bit dated-looking, as is typical for SaschArt plugins. Still, once you dive in, there’s a lot to like in terms of pure functionality.
By the way, the developer also offers a professional version of multiDelay, but I couldn’t figure out what the differences between the two are based on the screenshots.
You get a fairly standard delay layout with multiDelay Free, but with some unusual control labels. For instance, there’s a feature for avoiding pops in the feedback loop named “Fade,” while the multi-delay section is labeled “Child.”

It’s a bit odd at first glance, but it becomes intuitive once you get going. In fact, I don’t mind using a plugin that feels a little different, even though the features are pretty standard.
My favorite feature is the Warp knob in the stereo section. It introduces a subtle stereo shift that adds a touch of instability to the delay signal. This is perfect for adding depth to synth arpeggios and other rhythmic elements.
multiDelay supports up to 15 additional serial delays, giving you a cascade of echoes for complex rhythmic textures. Each “Child” delay can be tempo-synced and balanced in the mix using individual mix controls.
There’s also a filter section with multiple modes, including boosted low-pass and high-pass filters for easy tone shaping. Other features include pan width control, dry/wet mix, and fade time to smooth out parameter changes.
If you’re into delay plugins that go beyond the basics, this one is worth a look. And since it’s free, there’s really no reason not to try it out.
multiDelay is available in VST2 and VST3 plugin formats for Windows (32-bit and 64-bit) and in VST2, VST3, and AU formats for macOS. You can download it directly from SaschArt’s website—no registration required, though donations are welcome.
