According to an ongoing lawsuit, Sexxy Red was named as one of the defendants in an unpaid royalties case where Tay Keith allegedly did not receive compensation for 13 songs he produced for her in 2024. Now, Sexxy Red has made an emotional appeal to the judge in the form of a letter.
Sexxy Red wrote to the judge explaining that artists do not typically have control over payments made to the producer and that it is primarily a label issue. “Tay Keith and I are great working partners and even greater friends,” she mentioned in the letter. “If the label owes him money, I’m sure they have started the process to get him paid.”
Furthermore, Sexxy Red also explained the idea of recoupment by labels for music delivered, and explained that she herself has not seen many of the royalties yet as part of standard procedure. “There are several songs that Tay Keith and I have worked on together that I haven’t received payment for yet. It’s just a process the label uses in making payments after all the monies are recouped,” she wrote.
In summation, she has asked to be dismissed from the case as it goes on between the labels and appropriate stakeholders. What do you think?
