Sonora Cinematic has announced its debut offering of expansion packs for Audiomodern’s free customizable MPE sampler, Soundbox.
Post-Rock Guitars Vols 1 and 2 were built from the same deep-sampling expertise behind Sonora Cinematic’s Panorama series, with every one of the included presets recorded with world-class gear and an all-analogue signal path. The result? Beautifully playable, deeply inspiring sounds that are instantly accessible whether you’re composing on desktop or jamming on an iPad.
From ambient washes and emotional tremolos to lush shoegaze pads and synth-like leads, each collection offers 30 presets – a much broader selection compared to many other existing Soundbox expansion packs.
Volume 1 captures the emotional depth and ambient textures that define bands like Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai to deliver playable, ambient guitar tones that drift, shimmer, and evolve with stunning realism.
Meanwhile, Volume 2 expands on its counterpart with a deeper focus on synth-like textures and string-inspired tones. Drawing inspiration from legends like Sigur Rós and Slowdive, users can explore soaring pads, resonant textures, and ambient guitarscapes – all playable and touch-responsive, thanks to full MPE integration via Soundbox.
“After spending two years studying and recording post-rock guitars and after the successful release of Panorama Guitars and Panorama Hybrid for Kontakt, I really wanted to bring these sounds to Audiomodern’s Soundbox and make use of its native MPE support,” says Sonora Cinematic Founder, Alessandro Mastroianni.
“This instrument really captures the essence of the post-rock bands that I love, it’s incredibly cinematic and the new baritone guitar that we sampled makes it really unique.”

Post-Rock Guitars Vol 1 and Vol 2 require the free Soundbox player (downloadable from the Audiomodern website). They are available now from the Sonora Cinematic website for the introductory price of £25 GBP each until June 30th, 2025 (normally £29 GBP), or as a bundle for £39 GBP (normally £49 GBP). Prices exclude tax.
