Have a nice week soundfisters…
With K Pop Demon Hunters songs ruling the charts and few things in between but nothing new it’s hard to imagine draining new music from the charts although there are some interesting new releases but not on the charts. It’s also hard to imagine that Alanis Morissette dueting with Carly Simon in one of her classics could ever be too popular. But this new version especially for the film “My Mother’s Wedding” starring Scarlett Johansson seems to speak to a much mature audience and why not to some of the youngsters. The original composition belongs to Carly Simon , who wrote the music and lyrics for the film “Heartburn” in 1986. The song was later included on the album “Coming Around Again” (1987), and was released as a single in 1986, experiencing huge success. In the United States, it reached No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 5 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary , while it became a top-10 hit in countries such as Austria, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The choice to close the film “My Mother’s Wedding” with a new version of “Coming Around Again” this time as a duet between the original performer Carly Simon and the dynamic Alanis Morissette seems to work not to mention that it’s a great song.
