You can currently get a free copy of Streaky’s Body Builder (normally $100) dynamic/transient shaper by signing up for the developers’ mailing list.
I just tested the offer, and it’s working, but it’s limited to 500 downloads only, so it’s best to get on it quickly!
Body Builder is a 64-bit-only release for macOS (macOS 10.13 minimum) or Windows (Windows 7 minimum), for VST3, AU, and AAX.
The plugin is made for controlling peaks, enhancing room ambience, and adding subtle body to tracks.
If you’re ready to get massive, you can snap up your copy of Body Builder by signing up to the newsletter via the promo form linked at the bottom of the article (which can be a temp email).
Streaky will then immediately email you a download link with the installer files, which combined come in at 202 MB.
The download link is labelled just as a Windows file, but after you download the zip, there are actually both macOS and Windows installers inside.
In addition to the download link, you’ll also get a separate email with a serial number for the plugin.
Body Builder is still relatively new, having been launched by Streaky on November 8, 2024.
So what exactly does Body Builder do? With this release, Streaky aimed to deliver thicker, fuller, and more controlled sounds, without killing the dynamics.
More specifically, the plugin is for controlling transients, dynamics, and adding character with harmonics, all within a single workflow.
Body Builder operates in three styles (A, B, C), which you can pick by the central selector. Here, I think it would have been good to get a description for each, or at least descriptive names, rather than just letters that leave you to figure out the styles purely by trial and error.
From there, you can tweak the sounds with the two main knobs, Body Control and Level Builder.
Body Control is for fattening up the mix with a fuller sound while maintaining clarity and dynamics. Level Builder is for controlling signal peaks and adding warmth and character with subtle harmonics.
The Auto Gain toggle brings the output to 0 dB, and you can then use the Level Builder knob to control the peaks and raise the volume to your desired master level.
The control scheme is rounded out by a mix control and dual Low and Hi Cut controls for both the main knobs.
