Bumpboxx has unveiled its new BB-777 boombox, inspired by the classic and legendary GF-777.
The BB-777 harks back to the beefy boomboxes of the ’80s with dual cassette decks and tactile physical knobs – as well as a three-way, six-driver configuration – but adds modern features like Bluetooth compatibility alongside CD and old-school cassette playback.
Elsewhere, the unit boasts a pair of 6.25-inch super woofers and 270w of power, with independent gain control, coaxial drivers, horn tweeters, and internally chambered housing with bass ports.
Whether you’re keen to stream digitally via Bluetooth, listen to old cassette tapes, or stream stream multi-band radio, the BB-777 does it all. And you can even record direct to USB. Or, if you fancy tracking some vocals, there are also a pair of mic inputs.
The BB-777 is also designed to be a fully wireless experience, equipped with a 97.6Wh battery capable that can handle up to 15 hours of playback. It’s also fitted with a fan-cooling system to keep your amplifier from overheating.
The Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo has even given it a massive seal of approval in a Kickstarter promotional clip. And it’s clear that plenty of people are keen to indulge in the BB-777’s nostalgic edge, with the Kickstarter campaign raising over £2.4 million and counting.
To secure a BB-777 boombox, there is still time to reserve one at the introductory price of $649. Once the product is officially launched and shipping, the price will raise to $1,049.
There’s also an option to get a special fiery red, cool silver and all-black ‘Founder’s Edition’ models for $749, with only 777 of each colour available.
The BB-777 boombox is available to order now, with shipments starting in June. For more information, head to Kickstarter.
