Sirial is a rhythmic serial delay inspired by “tap mode” by the SoundToys EchoBoy. The plugin works on macOS, Windows, and Linux.
The developer has already brought us several amazing freeware plugins inspired by paid software, such as FILT-R, which somewhat recreates the Cableguys FilterShaper plugin.
Sirial has 16 serial delay lines that allow you to build intricate delay patterns, since each “tap” has its own amplitude and feedback. Additionally, you can apply saturation, diffusion, and damping to the signal, making the echo decay sound realistic and pleasant.
The Plugin has an intuitive grid where you configure offset and amplitude for each delay tap. Syncable to your host BPM, Sirial lets you select between different rhythmical subdivisions and opens up a wealth of possible use-cases.
You can also choose to have the feedback amount act globally instead of applying it to each individual delay line.
The plugin can be operated in stereo mode, ping-pong mode, and a delay reverse mode. It has a mix knob to blend between the dry and wet signal, plus dedicated knobs for panning each part.
To make matters more interesting, Sirial features a ducking feature with threshold, attack, and release controls.
All these features give you a lot of control, making it easy to customize exactly the sort of delay action your track needs. Draw up a cool pattern, find the right subdivisions, and adjust the damping to get some of the frequencies out of the way.
Suddenly, your guitars and FX stabs are jamming with themselves in time with the rest of the track.
Using serial delay for more atmospheric pads and ambient-type productions in combination with reverbs and granular effects could be a cool trick as well. Subtle rhythmic movement that changes in timbre across the stereo field, being smeared by an additional reverb, is never wrong.
Check out the read-me on GitHub to get even more tips and tricks on how you can use this plugin.
All in all, Sirial has a lot of cool features. When the stock delay plugins feel stale, this might be your ticket.
If you like creative delay, modulation, and reverb, I recommend Unplugred’s SunBurnt and Davisynth’s Spiral. Perfect for FX tracks or for giving depth to important elements of your song.
Downloading Sirial is easy, just the way we like it. Choose your operating system and download the Zip-file – et voilà!
