Timbaland had the entire 2000’s in the palm of his hands with his percussion heavy beats that had a bounce like nobody else. He also co-started the Verzuz with Swizz Beatz in 2020 for another iconic contribution to the culture. But all’s not been sunshine for the super-producer, who seems to have suffered serious financial damage, as reported by Complex.
Taking his ex-managers Gary Marella and Bruce Seckendorf to court, Timbaland has filed a 15 million dollar lawsuit alleging breach of contract and fraud. The case was filed in a 65-page document at the Los Angeles Superior Court stating that Marella “stole millions in unauthorized commissions, fees, and reimbursements,” and that he “falsified financial records and communications to conceal unauthorized payments” in context of work with Verzuz.
As for Sckendorf, the producer blamed him for failing to pay federal taxes and mortgage which “allowed his home to reach the brink of foreclosure.” The managers were both fired last year, in 2025. Apparently, 12 months worth of arrears on Timbaland’s behalf were not paid, and that they instead prioritised paying “nearly $900,000 in payments to Defendants and attorneys they engaged in five months.” What do you think went wrong?
