Ever wanted to know the track ID of a mix? Most of us have sat with a set, caught a record buried three quarters of the way in, and found no ID in the comments and no reply from the DJ. (personally we think there is a place reserved in hell for DJs who don’t add tracklists) For years the answer was 1001 Tracklists, and it remains a useful resource, a crowd-sourced archive built by people who take the time to log what they hear. The catch is that it relies on someone having done that work before you.
Trackmatch takes a different route. Drop in a SoundCloud or YouTube set, or paste a link, and it scans the audio itself and returns the IDs. There is no waiting on a stranger to fill in the gaps. The site is clear about its purpose, which is to help you find and support the music rather than to strip-mine other people’s sets.
