Våld Labs has released a polyphonic hybrid synthesizer plugin that pairs two independent oscillator layers with a generative step sequencer, growing out of the developer’s original hardware prototype.
Originating from a hardware standalone instrument which explores multiple synthesis engines through a compact, hands-on interface, Tresse combines 24 classic Mutable Instruments Plaits-inspired engines with 15 engines developed by Våld Labs, including Karplus-Strong, sympathetic strings, a 64-mode modal resonator, CZ-style phase distortion, bytebeat, wavefolding, complex FM, drawbars, and granular synthesis, all sharing the same core UI controls.
Build analogue-style basses, FM keys, resonant strings, granular textures and percussion. Layer two sounds, give each its own evolving pattern, and shape them into something yours.
Tresse features
- Two independent 8-voice layers, each with its own SEM-style morphing filter, amp and filter ADSRs, drift, master detune, portamento, chorus, and a bipolar crush/distortion stage.
- Voice modes spanning polyphonic, mono legato, and 2/4/8-voice unison stacking.
- 39 total synthesis engines, 24 Plaits-inspired and 15 custom to Våld Labs.
- A generative step sequencer built on the same engine as the studio’s Vekte sequencer, offering seven algorithms: wave interference, Euclidean, random walk, logistic map, cellular automata, Kaprekar, and Fibonacci.
Tresse is available for Windows and macOS (VST3, AU, and standalone) at an introductory price of €19.99 EUR through September 30th, 2026 (regular €29.99 EUR). An iOS version for iPhone and iPad is in development.
