Wavea releases Flite, a multi-sampler and synth plugin for macOS and Windows.

Wavea’s Flite is a new multi-sampler and synth workstation that aims to provide high-end functionality at a lower price, so let’s get straight into the price.

Flite has two modes: Play and Creator.

You can use Flite in Play mode for free and access hundreds of high-quality presets, each with a small selection of macro controls.

Creator mode offers deeper access under the hood, which costs $99.

For $99, you can edit existing presets in far greater detail or craft entirely new sounds with a pretty impressive arsenal of sound design tools.

Creator mode features four multi-samplers, a multi-engine synth, three LFOs and Envelopes, and seven Multi-FX.

Flite includes 2.5GB of multi-samples in multiple categories, such as Bass, Chord, Keys, Loops, etc.

If loops and gigabytes of samples are your thing, you should also check out Rigid Audio’s free Interference drum and loop sequencer for Kontakt.

The four multi-samplers are identical, allowing you to select samples from different categories in each one. If you’re using all four multi-samplers and the synth engine, you have a powerful foundation for complex sounds.

Flite has six voice layers, four multi-samplers, a synth engine, and a noise generator. Each sampler and the synth engine has an independent three-band EQ and selectable curve types.

Layering these individual EQs provides vast potential for intricate yet straightforward sound sculpting. You can also adjust the pan and tuning per sound layer.

Of course, you can also adjust the samples in terms of start/end points, fades, etc., and import your own samples.

There are three multi-mode oscillators selectable type settings: Analog and Wavetable. The modes include FM, Exp FM, AM, Unison, Sync, and Colour.

Flite sounds pretty impressive on the surface, and given the relative price of some similar synths, it could be a good buy. But, even with limited depth, the free Flite Play is worth checking out.

Flite Play comes with over 200 presets from a wide range of rare and vintage instruments, including synths, drum machines, guitars, and more.

The eight custom macros for each preset allow you to tweak the sound enough to put your stamp on it, and anyone who downloads Flite for free will get a 20-minute, feature-limited demo of Flite Creator.

Flite is available in AU and VST3 formats for macOS (10.12 and 10.14) and Windows (10 and higher).
