YG and Ty Dolla $ign have another hit on their hands, and this time it is loaded with nostalgia. Sampling the signature drum sample and possibly more from the classic hip hop dance record, ‘Teach Me How To Dougie,’ the rappers have spun the phrase to create ‘Teach You How To Luh Me.’
The flows are simple and sensual, topped off with melodies to create a fun pocket for the song to exist in. The song runs for about 4 minutes, and is structurally largely populated by the hook repeating in different mannerisms with the same core anchor — longing mixed with seduction & served smoothly by the artists.
All in all, the record is both fresh and evergreen. One would assume that an attempt like this might fall flat in front of the original classic, and yet, the song confidently passes the test of first taste.
