Macklemore went hard with his message of “Free Palestine” during his concerts with Ed Sheeran and Jewish organizations are calling for a ban.
Macklemore took the stage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this past weekend and made his political stance on Palestine impossible to ignore.
He shouted “Free Palestine” while wearing a keffiyeh and performed his pro-Palestinian anthem “Hind’s Hall” in front of tens of thousands of Ed Sheeran concertgoers.
The Israeli-American Council immediately launched a petition demanding that Sheeran’s management remove the rapper from the remainder of the tour, arguing that a concert venue isn’t the place for what they characterized as one-sided political messaging.
The backlash came swiftly and organized.

StopAntisemitism posted on X that Jewish patrons shouldn’t be forced to endure what they called propaganda, while the IAC framed the issue as a matter of boundaries and responsibility.
The organization representing over 150,000 Israeli-Americans stated that while Macklemore has every right to hold political views, using a massive concert platform to advance those views without context or nuance crosses a line.
They called on Live Nation and other tour organizers to establish clear guidelines about what constitutes acceptable activism on stage.
