The former president of United States has been known to have a great taste in music and literature, and is often seen recommending things he’s consuming to his large follower base. This instance for Barack Obama is no different.
Taking to social media site X, Obama shared a summer playlist for 2026 that consists of about 46 songs in total. He also paid his respects to Glen Hansard, whom he referred to as a “a great musician who passed tragically this week,” and kept Glen’s family in his thoughts and prayers. Fittingly, the playlist also begins with a song by Glen Hansard, which also happens to be a song Michele Obama is equally fond of.
Of course, the playlist is also full of great rap/ hip hop tracks as well. From Doechii and SZA to Vince Staples and Anderson .Paak and more, Obama’s list was full of commendable picks.
Interestingly, Obama, who once mentioned he prefers Kendrick over Drake, decided to put a Drake song in the playlist as well. While it is surprising that no Kendrick song made the list, it’s even more shocking to see that the Drake song in question is actually ‘Ran To Atlanta,’ which itself is a retaliatory song from Drake after Kendrick said he runs to Atlanta when he needs a cheque balanced.

Here are some of the songs I’ve been listening to this summer. It starts with a song Michelle and I love by Glen Hansard, a great musician who passed tragically this week. Our hearts go out to his family. pic.twitter.com/3A1trYfXfx
