A collage of hands holding bottles of the best liquid chlorophyll supplements.

Chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants like spinach and alfalfa, along with algae like chlorella and spirulina, that helps these plants turn light from the sun into food. The health supplement industry has harnessed liquid chlorophyll as a potential detoxification tool that has been posited to possess health benefits ranging from weight loss to a better immune system. Other sources also claim it can be a part of a skincare routine at the very least, similar to the best collagen supplements.

Spoiler alert: The depth of research behind the health benefits of liquid chlorophyll is abysmal at best. However, we still wanted to explore some of the top brands and try them for ourselves to help any of our readers who may be considering adding the best liquid chlorophyll supplement to their daily regimen. Let’s jump in.

Double Wood’s Liquid Chlorophyll offers a potent, mulberry-derived supplement with enhanced absorption, ideal for those seeking quality and value.

Double Wood offers a wide variety of supplements to support better well-being from dietary supplements for brain health to healthy aging, so it’s no surprise to see liquid chlorophyll among its offerings. We named theirs the best overall due to a simple formulation, reasonable price, and great perks like a 100% money-back guarantee and great discounts if you buy in bulk.

With 50 milligrams of chlorophyll in the form chlorophyllin per serving and no added sugars, we like Double Wood’s formulation, which earns a 5 out of 5 on our rating scale.

Our tester holds up a bottle of Double Wood Liquid Chlorophyll

I also rated the price a 3 out of 5 for being only $0.67 per serving, and even less if you buy more than one bottle at a time. I also rated it a 4 out of 5 for taste when I tried it. I tested it a couple of ways, by both putting it directly on my tongue and mixing it with 8 ounces of water as directed.

Frankly, I actually think it tastes better when not in water, as the water gives it an earthy flavor that’s not bad, but isn’t ideal. When on its own, it has a strong spearmint flavor similar to toothpaste, but without any sweetness whatsoever.

RELATED: The Best Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies of 2025

I also rated a 3 out of 5 for third-party testing. Like every other liquid chlorophyll on this list, it’s not third-party tested for sport by Informed Choice of NSF for Sport. However, it is manufactured in a GMP-certified facility and has a COA (Certificate of Analysis) report readily available on the product page for more transparency.

If you’d prefer to take your liquid chlorophyll with water, we’d recommend giving the Mary Ruth’s liquid chlorophyll a go—it actually tastes much better when mixed with H20.

Best Liquid Chlorophyll (2025): What's Worth Your Green?

World Organic Chlorophyll offers a natural, alfalfa-derived supplement at an affordable price, suitable for those seeking a straightforward chlorophyll option.

The products Trace Minerals offers range from supplements designed to cater to active individuals, like collagen, to products like beef organ capsules. All are designed with the ultimate goal of putting at ease the minds of individuals who may be concerned that they are not getting enough minerals.

Their Ionic Chlorophyll contains a whopping 100 milligrams of chlorophyll, which is among the highest on this list. It also has the added bonus of containing copper and magnesium for extra minerals. Copper in particular could work synergistically with chlorophyll as it’s been known to help support the health of red blood cells1, which is one of the claimed benefits of chlorophyll as well.

Our tester holds up a bottle of Trace Ionic Chlorophyll

When I tried Ionic myself, it became quickly clear that they weren’t kidding about the potency.  I immediately got a very strong flavor of plants that I didn’t too much care for when mixed with just water. The next day I tried it in my coffee and it was a little more bearable, but I also make my coffee super sweet. All in all, though, I would give it a 2 out of 5 for taste if you take it on its own or in water.

RELATED: How To Detox Your Body Safely

The good news is I would give a 5 out of 5 for the formulation. I’m impressed by how potent it is in terms of chlorophyll content and like how some trace minerals are also added, which boosts the value. It’s not sweet, but that also means there aren’t any sugars or artificial sweeteners, either.

Finally, I give a 3 out of 5 for side effects. The first couple of times I tried it I got a little bit of nausea, but it subsided after an hour or so and wasn’t severe or anything. When I diluted it with more water in the future, I didn’t feel anything. But my gut also probably became acclimated to the chlorophyll after a couple of uses.

If you’re looking for a chlorophyll supplement that tastes better, try the Raw Science Vegan Liquid Chlorophyll.

NOW Foods Liquid Chlorophyll offers a potent, mint-flavored supplement that may support internal deodorizing and detoxification at an affordable price.

NOW Foods hits our list again with yet another budget-friendly option, which is to be expected from the brand that’s become known for those on a tight supplement budget. Marketed as an internal deodorant, NOW Foods has a liquid chlorophyll that has a three-month supply in a single bottle, made from sodium copper chlorophyllin. This is likely why it’s the cheapest option on our list.

I was a bit disappointed when I tried this one to find there was no dropper. You have to measure out a teaspoon serving, which requires you to have a teaspoon. So, this isn’t the most ideal option to choose if you foresee yourself sipping chlorophyll while on the go.

Our tester holds up a bottle of NOW Foods Liquid Chlorophyll

Now the good news is, I rated the taste a 5 out of 5 because I was a huge fan of the flavor. You get a robust minty flavor that’s sweet without being sickening. I liked it in water, but would even put it in a protein smoothie recipe for an extra mint taste if I could. I was shocked at how good it tasted without having any sweeteners!

RELATED: Organifi vs Athletic Green (2025): Which is The Best Way to Get Your Greens?

As far as the formulation, I would give that a 4.5 out of 5. For the price of a bottle you get 100 mg of chlorophyll, which is honestly an awesome value. There’s also 444% of your daily value of copper (don’t worry, it’s less than half of the upper limit). The reason I knock off half of a point though is because it contains preservatives in the form of potassium sorbate.

For solubility, I give a 5 out of 5 as it mixed quickly and easily in water. It also makes for a tasty little chlorophyll water mixture that could be pretty refreshing as a summer drink if you add some ice. However, for a better on-the-go option, check out Trace Ionic Chlorophyll.

Raw Science Liquid Chlorophyll Drops provide a high-potency, unflavored supplement ideal for those seeking a versatile and vegan-friendly detox solution.

Known for novel products like sea moss, collagen, and probiotic gummies for gut health, Raw Science is the place to go for plant-based supplements. The liquid chlorophyll supplement is the only product under their “internal deodorant” category, but it’s also listed under the group of products meant to detoxify.

When I first tasted this I absolutely knew it had to be sweetened with something because the flavor was too good; it tasted like someone melted down an entire pack of spearmint gum. So, it’s safe to say that it wouldn’t be the most unpleasant tool to knock out some bad breath when you make it into a little batch of chlorophyll water. That said, I gave it a 5 out of 5 for taste. I could definitely see myself enjoying this everyday even without any water.

RELATED: Best-Tasting Protein Bars

That said, I was right about the sweetener, because it is sweetened with stevia. Even though it is a natural sweetener, there are some preservatives in the formulation, so I had to rate it 4 out of 5 in that category. The further incentive to knock off a point is that the label on the front of the bottle is misleading, saying there is 1,500 milligrams of chlorophyll in the whole bottle. There’s only 50 milligrams in a serving of two dropperfulls though, which is far less impressive.

Still, it’s one of the more affordable products on this list despite being a vegan product. At less than 1 dollar per serving, I gave a 2 out of 5 rating for price. There’s also an option to get it for cheaper if you buy in bulk or sign up for subscribe-and-save.

For a slightly cheaper option that still tastes good, we recommend NOW Foods Liquid Chlorophyll.

Mary Ruth’s Vegan Liquid Chlorophyll combines a refreshing peppermint flavor with vegan-friendly ingredients, making it a pleasant daily supplement choice.

Mary Ruth’s Chlorophyll Liquid Drops are as clean as you can expect from a Mary Ruth’s product. It’s free of common allergens, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO and made in a GMP facility. It also gets a 5 out of 5 in formulation because of its 50 milligrams of chlorophyll in chlorophyllin form, plus no added sugars.

RELATED: Best Vegan Protein Powder

Despite that, I gave a 4 out of 5 for taste. It has a minty flavor, but there’s also a strange metallic taste that could throw people off that aren’t expecting it. That’s probably why they recommend you mix it with 16 ounces of water instead of the 8 ounces that is recommended with the other brands.

As far as solubility, I gave a 5 out of 5. Even though it contains peppermint oil, it’s totally water-soluble and mixed in water super easily. This is also one of those that tastes infinitely better when mixed in water than it is on its own.

Lastly, I rated it a 3.5 out of 5 in third party testing. Despite it not being tested for sport, it is also Clean Label Project Certified and safe for vegans without anything artificial.

On another note, Mary Ruth’s warns to exercise caution when serving yourself these liquid chlorophyll drops as the mulberry-derived chlorophyll could stain your clothes with its green pigment. Those conscious about the environment should also know these drops are certified by the B corporation, meaning it’s been manufactured with sustainability in mind.

Another vegan chlorophyll option that we like is Raw Science Vegan Liquid Chlorophyll—it’s a bit more expensive but tastes better, in my opinion.

World Organic Chlorophyll offers a natural, alfalfa-derived supplement at an affordable price, suitable for those seeking a straightforward chlorophyll option.

There’s nothing flashy or over the top about the World Organic natural chlorophyll supplement from its formulation to its label. Made with organically grown alfalfa leaves and preservative-free, this is a supplement that you’ll have to refrigerate after opening. So, don’t bank on keeping this one in your car or gym bag.

There are no calories and 100 milligrams of chlorophyll per serving, which is pretty great for only 75 cents per serving. So, I gave it a 2 out of 5 for price. A bit expensive, but it’s still a good value, especially when you consider that organic products typically end up costing way more than their non-organic counterparts.

Our tester holds up a bottle of World Organic Liquid Chlorophyll

I have bad news on the taste, though. Oof, there’s no delicate way to say that it’s by far the worst-tasting liquid chlorophyll on this list in my opinion. The inclusion of sodium makes it really salty in an unpleasant way and without any sweeteners to lighten up the flavor, it just ends up tasting like salty grass. (Even the best electrolyte powders wouldn’t do that to you!)  I could only have it one time, even when mixed with water, so you would seriously need to blend this with something. Thus, I rated it a 1 out of 5 in this category.

That said, I gave a 5 out of 5 for side effects as I didn’t experience anything negative in terms of stomach issues or weird bowel movements after taking it. It also boasts a 4.3 out of 5 for customer reviews on Amazon—customers seem to genuinely find it effective, especially for gut health and bloating. However, it also seems that many of them share my sentiments on the flavor. (Try Raw Science Vegan Liquid Chlorophyll for a better-tasting option.)

How We Picked and Tested the Best Liquid Chlorophyll

When compiling a list of the best liquid chlorophyll supplements, the challenge wasn’t so much finding the best ones, but picking out the biggest highlights from products that are all so similar. More than meets the eye, not all chlorophyll supplements are created equal, so we selected the ones on our list using the following criteria:

Formulation

Arguably the most important factor when choosing a liquid chlorophyll—or any supplement really— is the formulation. You wouldn’t want to spend your money on something that isn’t providing a research-backed dosage of important ingredients, right? To that end, we looked for products that contained at least 50 milligrams of chlorophyll in the chlorophyllin form per serving, as well as no added sugars or preservatives.

Taste

Drinking the liquid version of a plant pigment we’re all at least vaguely familiar with is already somewhat of a strange concept. So, many people may be cautious to discover what liquid chlorophyll even tastes like. Luckily, I personally tried all of the brands on this list so you don’t have to. For the most part, we kept the ones in rotation we thought others would be able to enjoy flavor-wise.

Ease of Use

One of the hidden dangers of using liquid chlorophyll is that it is a pigment. If you’ve ever tried to supplement with something like turmeric, you know that herbal supplements are no joke when it comes to their ability to stain clothes, counters, and anything else in sight. So, you don’t want a liquid supplement with an unintended dyeing ability to spill everywhere.

RELATED: 8Greens Gummies Review

With liquid supplements, whether or not it has a dropper or a clear serving size can be a dealbreaker for people who have a busy morning routine. Not only because of the risk of spillage, but also because one needs to be able to measure out the proper dose without frustration when it comes to a daily supplement.

Customer Reviews

As similar as many of the chlorophyll supplements on this list may be, they are all also slightly different in terms of their formulation, serving size, and flavor. The effects one experiences can also be unpredictable as this is still a supplement that’s fairly new. So, we took a look at other reviews from verified customers to make sure that we weren’t selecting brands that had already delivered an overwhelmingly negative experience to other consumers.

Benefits of Liquid Chlorophyll Supplements

Unfortunately, the amount of solid and reliable science behind chlorophyll is scarce. Nearly all of the research that supports the potential health benefits of liquid chlorophyll have been done on mice, so potential benefits should be taken with a grain of salt until more human research can be conducted.

May Support Healthy Gut & Weight Loss

One recent study published in Molecular Nutrition & Food Research found that supplementing with bioavailable chlorophyll can have the capability to change the population of microbiota2 in the gut, particularly Lactococcus and Lactobacillus strains. The scientists go one step further to hypothesize that this change in the microbiome could help with weight loss and obesity prevention.

RELATED: How to Improve Your Gut Health

They also mention chlorophyll can exert antioxidant action on those who consume high-fat diets that result in excess body weight to also improve overall health. However, these studies were conducted in mice, so human trials are needed to confirm these findings.

May Have Anti-Cancer Properties

One of the potential health benefits that is often discussed with chlorophyll is the possibility to prevent cancer, especially pancreatic and colon cancers. A study found that mice transplanted with human pancreatic cancer cells were significantly less likely to develop tumors from their cancer3 after being given liquid chlorophyll by mouth daily.

In human trials, chlorophyll was shown to have a potential to reduce risk of colon cancer4 and to provide immune support. However, these benefits were seen with leafy green and chlorophyll- rich foods like matcha, wheatgrass, chlorella, and alfalfa rather than liquid chlorophyll. It was also found that participants of the study had a large amount of trouble sticking with a high-chlorophyll diet.

What we can glean from these results is that a diet rich in leafy green vegetables —not just the best greens powders — is likely the most effective way to get these immune support benefits from chlorophyll when compared with consuming the liquid version, probably because of the fiber and antioxidant activity that these whole foods also offer.

Can Boost Red Blood Cell Health

It has been shown that wheatgrass can help with the production of red blood cells, but only in those who have disorders that affect their red blood cell production. Wheatgrass is also high in iron, which is notorious for its function in helping to boost the production of red blood cells. Thus, it makes sense that people credit the effects of wheatgrass to chlorophyll for this function.

That said, in mice studies, it has been shown that chlorophyll exerts some action to prevent the test subjects from experiencing anemia5. However, it must be noted that the liquid chlorophyll in these trials were injected directly into the bloodstream of the mice rather than administered orally.

Natural Deodorant

It has been claimed for decades now that chlorophyll can not only work as a natural deodorant to treat body odor—and not like these kind of the best natural deodorants— but can also combat bad breath. Now, given that most liquid chlorophyll also contains peppermint oil, we don’t necessarily need clinical trials to tell us it can be beneficial for bad breath, just like your favorite brand of chewing gum is.

However, it should be noted that the claims of it being effective for treating body odor have not been verified in more recent studies conducted in humans.

Potential Side Effects

It will take more research to determine whether liquid chlorophyll is safe and effective for humans, so one should proceed with caution to avoid potential side effects. The most commonly reported side effects of taking liquid chlorophyll include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Black or green bowel movements
  • Disclored tongue
  • Sensitivity to sunlight

The liquid form of chlorophyll may be absorbed more quickly than other forms such as capsules, so any side effects may have an earlier onset and last longer than those seen with other forms. It’s also unclear whether or not women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are safe to take liquid chlorophyll, so it should be avoided unless it’s been cleared by a healthcare professional.

You should also avoid chlorophyll if you are on certain medications such as diuretics, as many of these supplements contain sodium. Also, given the effect chlorophyll has on the skin, those on acne medications should also be cautious.

How Much Liquid Chlorophyll Should I Take Per Day?

Currently, there is not enough research to determine how much chlorophyll you should consume each day to reap the benefits. That said, it’s a good idea to not buy into the “more is better” mentality with this supplement because research is still ongoing both on the benefits and how the human body reacts to such a novel compound like chlorophyll.

Still, you should take your chlorophyll supplement according to the directions regardless of the results of research. You may encounter possible side effects if you consume too much chlorophyll or if you consume more than what is recommended.

Buying Guide: What to Look for in the Best Liquid Chlorophyll Supplements

So, what should you be looking for while you shop around for the best chlorophyll supplements? Honestly, with the lack of research around the wellness benefits to be had along with the proper dosage, it can be hard to tell. However, there are some characteristics that you can consider.

Chlorophyll Dose

Most chlorophyll supplements are dosed from 50 to 100 milligrams, depending on the brand and serving size. As long as the chlorophyll is in the chlorophyllin form in this dosage, it gets a 5 out of 5 in our book. A note here: Liquid chlorophyll drops are not regulated by the FDA, so you still want to dose cautiously to assess for potential side effects.

Extra Ingredients

If you can get your liquid chlorophyll with some extra minerals, this is another way to maximize value. You also want to watch out for extra ingredients that don’t provide any benefit like additives and preservatives.

Though it does help to have a supplement that you don’t have to refrigerate, those who are wary of artificial preservatives will need to read their labels. The same goes for artificial sweeteners to lighten the taste of chlorophyll, which can have a very strong, earth flavor in its pure form.
