Earlier this week, a clip of Claressa Shields made its rounds on social media of her calling somebody out and saying she “ran up on” the person. Many people assumed the professional boxer was referring to Remy Ma, but it turns out, the clip was edited to make viewers believe Shields was talking about Remy.
“You don’t even know what smoke is… I’m from Flint, baby. Quit playing with me. I ran up on that h*e. She wanna talk about that sh*t, fight me. I wanted to see what it was like with that face-to-face conversation because that’s what I’m about,” Shields said in the video. The clip was inaccurately paired with the caption “Claressa Shields says she beat up Remy Ma” by Akademiks TV and other social media aggregators.
However, the sound bite was taken from a 2024 video where Shields was calling out Alycia Baumgardner, her rival she had a heated ringside encounter with. In the full video, she references both of their respective home cities, saying, “Come fight me, please. This will be a Flint, [Michigan] versus Ohio [fight]. Y’all, she not from Detroit. I don’t care how many pairs of buffs she got — she ain’t from Detroit.”
Remy Ma is from the Bronx, N.Y., was never mentioned in the original video. Watch it in full above.
Sheilds continued at the time, “I ain’t even mean to put my hands on that girl. Lord, I have to catch myself, but she started putting her hand on my face… You’re mad that you met that you met your match, and that’s okay, ’cause I’m gonna give you what you want every time. Now what?”
The 30-year-old middleweight champion is currently dating Remy Ma’s estranged husband Papoose. She also recently shared she wants to have a child with him in 2026.

Although the fight never happened, the “Conceited” artist reportedly wishes it did go down. TMZ Sports claims a source close to Remy said the rapper “would’ve welcomed the attempt.”
The two women have continuously gone back and forth over the last few months. Back in May, Remy warned the fighter to “refrain from speaking” regarding her.
“If you just turned 30 and allegedly just met someone 8 months ago that is 47 years old that I knew since you were 10 and was married to them since you were 13. and he has 4 biological children, one age 28 but will be 29, one age 25, another age 24 but will soon be 25, and a 6 year old baby and currently promising you a newborn while FINALLY agreeing to divorce 18 hours 54 minutes and 3 seconds ago, please refrain from speaking,” Remy wrote, followed by the “shh” emoji.
