From developer Dusty Plugins comes Dusty Tube 2, a free guitar & bass amp sim for Windows.

We covered the original Dusty Tube plugin in early 2025, and for anyone who missed it, it’s an amp simulator built on the Neural Amp Modeler (NAM).

Dusty Tube 2, as you’d expect, is the same thing with some tweaks and enhancements.

You might remember the original plugin being available for macOS and Windows, with Mac users experiencing various installation issues.

This time around, Dusty Tube 2 is a Windows-exclusive plugin available in VST3 format.

The Developer has upgraded Dusty Tube 2 to NAM A2, the latest version of the Neural Amp Modeling engine, which was released earlier this month.

Neural Amp Modeler powers various plugins, and the general consensus is that the amp and pedal models it creates through deep learning are incredibly accurate.

Dusty Tube 2 offers a free and intuitive way to load, play, and save these models.

The one-page workflow hasn’t changed since the first release, but the interface has a few new additions, including a second pedal slot with mixing options.

Additionally, a new modern theme is available if you want a change from the standard vintage look (both themes function identically).

You also have a modulation section with various built-in effects, including compression, tremolo, chorus, vibrato, delay, and reverb (room/spring).

Prominent features from the original version remain, like the ability to load separate left and right speaker impulse responses.

Dusty Plugins has added a new preset manager to save your favourite tomes for instant recall.

If you’re venturing down the tone rabbit hole, you might also want to check out OrbitCab. OrbitCab is a FREE guitar and bass cab IR loader for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

And, sticking with the dusty theme, you might as well add some piano to the mix with Dusty Felts by Somerville Sounds. Dusty Felts has been around since late 2024, but if you missed it back then, it’s worth a look.
Finally, if you make it out of the tone rabbit hole, don’t forget to enter our exclusive Darkpalace Studio giveaway. You could win a copy of the PIRANHA multi-band waveshaper and clipper plugin (usually €45) by telling us how you’d use it in the comments (the winner will be announced on July 1, 2026).

Good luck!
