Capitol Records has named Ian Holder and Tariq Stewart as Senior Vice Presidents of A&R.

Both executives will lead Capitol’s Urban A&R team, overseeing artist signings and development across the label’s expanding roster.

“Ian and Tariq have both had remarkably successful careers identifying and developing career artists,” said Lillia Parsa, President of Capitol Music Group.

“As we continue to build the team at Capitol, they will play crucial roles in shaping the label’s culture through the artists we sign. We’re thrilled to have both of them in these important roles at Capitol.”

Holder joins Capitol from Sony Music Publishing, where he spent eight years as SVP of Creative. During his tenure, he signed and guided the careers of artists and producers, including Lil Durk, Jack Harlow, Polo G, Pusha T, A$AP Ferg, LilJuMadeDaBeat, Buddah Bless This Beat, and BNYX.

“I am so honored to be part of the team that Tom March and Lillia Parsa are assembling at Capitol. “I am looking forward to contributing to Capitol’s rich legacy of artistry.”

Ian Holder

He began his career in 2003 as an A&R intern at Columbia Records and later served at BMI, where he worked with artists such as Post Malone, Frank Ocean, Rae Sremmurd, and GRAMMY-winning production team The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League.

“It’s a hugely exciting time to be at Capitol Records. Lillia, Tom and the entire team are building something really special and I’m grateful to be a part of it.”

Tariq Stewart

Stewart, meanwhile, joins Capitol following a tenure at RCA Records, where he collaborated closely with label President Mark Pitts on Chris Brown’s 11:11 (Deluxe) album, which won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.

At RCA, Stewart also signed artists including Afrobeat talent Libianca and rising dancehall star Skillibeng, and contributed to projects from A$AP Ferg, Rich The Kid, and Flo Milli.

Stewart began his A&R career at RCA in 2020, after a previous career as a football player at Florida A&M.

Capitol Records has been actively expanding its leadership in recent months, with Candice Watkins named President of Capitol Records Nashville and EVP of Capitol Christian Music Group.

Brian “Busy” Dackowski was appointed in February as Executive Vice President and Head of Pop/Rock Digital Marketing.

The label is also growing its global artist roster, recently signing Japanese pop-metal band BABYMETAL to a worldwide deal.Music Business Worldwide
