This new series of jobs offers great opportunities for people with the most experience possible to no experience whatsoever. Work for a major label publisher or get your career started with an unpaid internship. Check out the full list below:

The boutique label and management firm Avant Garden has an in-house studio that needs an assistant engineer. The primary role will be helping the lead engineers directly during a project.

The job scope can include participating in recording sessions, setting up mics and patches, and working in Pro Tools (the listing specifically mentions editing vocals with Melodyne). It could also be logistical work like running errands, backing up files, and ensuring sessions run smoothly.

The artists on the roster are sizable enough that top-rated people will be working with them, but not so massive that the studio will feel corporate.

  • Salary: Unknown
  • Location: Los Angeles, CA
  • Required qualifications: 2+ years in a studio, engineering, or hospitality-related role
  • Best for: Bedroom producers

For all the pros out there who are ready to be a part of the major label ecosystem, this role will have you producing sync music for movies and television. You will be working in the heart of Hollywood, so the chances that one of your favourite directors will show up looking to add one of your new tunes to their upcoming film are reasonably high.

In addition to producing music for picture in state-of-the-art studios, you will be able to have a say in how one of the biggest publishers in the world approaches sync moving forward. Relationships with professionals in the worlds of music, film, and television are essential.

  • Salary: Up to $130,000 a year
  • Location: Hollywood, California
  • Required qualifications: At least 10+ years of professional experience in a music production or post-production environment.
  • Best for: Experienced producers

Whenever you see a video of a super cool artist playing in some random backyard, you’re probably seeing a Sofar Sounds show. Sofar Sounds hosts live music in intimate, unconventional locations all around the world, and it needs people who have gear to help run sound for the events.

While quality is certainly important, Sofar is about a communal experience more than technical preeminence. So, if you have a functional PA system that you know how to run, this is a good way to make some extra cash while meeting artists and fellow music lovers.

  • Salary: $450 – $900
  • Location: Global
  • Required qualifications: Unknown
  • Best for: Garage Band Hosts

Berklee alumni are some of the biggest artists of the 21st century, from Laufey to John Mayer to St. Vincent. So, whoever is providing support for the institution’s music technology equipment, A/V systems, DAWs, and synths will not only have a pretty cool job. They’ll be rubbing shoulders with the potential next big thing. Not to mention, the fellow employees will most likely have musical ambitions as well.

Plus, a school as notable as Berklee likely has access to some pretty insane gear. As long as you know enough to provide support to students and train student employees, you’ll be good to go.

  • Salary: $28.50 – $29.21 per hour.
  • Location: Boston, Massachusetts
  • Required qualifications: B.A. in Music Technology or related field with 1–2 years of experience in technical support.
  • Best for: Studio fiends.

In the era of AI robocalls, speaking to real humans about issues with synths and other gear is absolutely essential. If you have a universal knowledge of music tech and you are patient enough to deal with customers, this is a great fit. You will be chatting with the most seasoned pros and brand new producers about MIDI, synths, audio recording concepts, DAWs, signal flow, interfaces, and much more.

  • Salary: Unknown
  • Location: Fort Wayne, IN
  • Required qualifications: Unknown
  • Best for: Gear obsessives

Soundspace is like Airbnb for studios. Anyone with a space, whether it be a bedroom, a garage, or an Atmos-ready recording facility, can make a listing on the platform where users can sign up to come create.

However, the company also offers its own high-level studios, and this role would be taking care of one of them. Ideal candidates equally understand how to run a professional session and develop strategies to get more clients into the studio.

  • Salary: Unknown
  • Location: Indianapolis, IN
  • Required qualifications: Proven experience as a Recording Studio Engineer with at least 5 years of industry experience.
  • Best for: Studio veterans

While getting only college credit for labor is a bit of a drag, Create is one of the fastest-growing music companies in the world. Sublime, NERO, and Omarion are a part of their vast network. So, this internship could have you involved in sessions with top-level artists and making connections with everyone else involved. Definitely puts you ahead of the curve after graduation.

  • Required qualifications: Some educational training in audio engineering, extensive knowledge of Pro Tools and Logic Pro X
  • Best for: Aspiring producers and studio professionals

Live sound reinforcement is part of the purview as well.
