I’ve known the great mixer Dave Pensado (Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Pink!, and many, many more) for more than 30 years. In fact, I wrote the very first article about him for EQ Magazine, and he was featured prominently in the first edition (and every edition since) of my Mixing Engineer’s Handbook.

It wasn’t unusual for Dave to call me out of the blue to talk about gear or a new project that he was excited about. The last two time he called I knew there was something wrong though.
He had a hard time staying focused and completing sentences, and he just wasn’t the Dave that I knew for so many years.
It turns out that was the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, and he’s rapidly gone downhill since then.
His family has reached out for assistance to help with the daily specialized care that he needs.
You can find out more and donate here.
Your donation is tax deductible and will go towards paying his increasing medical costs.
Dave was always so willing to help other engineers, and he was totally giving of his time in spite of being so in-demand as a mixer. Now is our time to give back.
