For fans of Kendrick Lamar who have been waiting on a new sonic treat from the masterful emcee — there is a new song in store for you as early as August 28th. Made in collaboration with DJ Dahi & Amber Mark, the song is called ‘How To Pray,’ and is part of Dahi’s upcoming album, Black Boy (Alternative).
The song is a laid back joint with beautiful guitar fingerpicking motifs littered with cherry-picked percs and exquisite live drum chops (or so it seems.) Whatever be the case, one thing is for certain; the song is a relaxing, floaty expression of love between two people expressing vulnerabilities to each other.
Kendrick is deep in his introspective bag for this one as he speaks about two lovers teaching each other how to pray and love in a world that changes people in confusing ways, and not always for the best. In the midst of this transformation, however, there is always hope.
The song was previewed on Childish Gambino‘s Gilga radio, where Gambino previously debuted a lot of his own music and even had some fans take over. Check out the song snippet from the radio play below!
