Smart Audio Plugins has announced a new mixing and mastering plugin designed to add presence and rebalance parts of the spectrum without losing transients and punch.
Every section in Timbral Box works in parallel in order to keep the source as unaltered as possible while generating harmonics, or adding presence, around it.
Each section introduces, in parallel, not only harmonics but also a portion of the signal filtered differently across the three bands. What you hear as “more presence” or “more bass” is harmonics sitting next to the sound — not EQ or compression on the sound.
The process behind the scenes is very dynamic and musical, and it varies from section to section. You can always think of Model A as a less distorted model, more oriented toward clipping, and of Model B as a combination of clipping and saturation that dynamically interacts with the Shape parameter.
Timbral Box features
- Bass, Mid and High processors with Shape controls and two saturation modes (A / B).
- Parallel compressor with Full Mix and Instruments modes.
- Transformer stage on the sum, modelled on two 1970s transformers.
- Autogain with Analyze, and Gain Link between input and output.
- Natural / Linear phase on every section.
Available in VST3, AU and AAX plugin formats for Windows and macOS, Timbral Box is on sale for the intro price of $56 USD / €48.30 EUR until September 30th, 2026 (regular $80 USD / €69 EUR). A free 14-day trial is available to try the plugin.
