One of the most revered artists of the 2000s and the one who revolutionised the autotune sound in modern music, rapper T-Pain has just filed a fresh lawsuit against Konvict Entertainment. For the uninitiated, Konvict Entertainment is a record label that was co-founded by none other than another iconic artist, Akon.
According to T-Pain’s lawsuit, the rapper is owed USD 489K in royalties by the aforementioned label. If claims are true, then Konvict Entertainment received USD 1.3 Million in royalties from T-Pain’s music and failed to pay the rapper his appropriate share.
In line with his contract with Konvict, T-Pain is supposedly entitled to 75% of net royalties that the label receives from its distributors. The news surfaced after claims came to light courtesy of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
T-Pain has ultimately alleged that Konvict Entertainment has breached both a previous lawsuit settlement (that happened in 2025) as well as his recording agreement, signed two decades prior in 2005. The story is still developing.
