What are the 25 best rock + metal collaborations of the ’90s and 2000s?

The spirit of collaboration has yielded some amazing pairings over the years and here we take a closer look at some of the best collabs to have happened in the ’90s and 2000s.

In some cases, such as the ’90s pairing of Pearl Jam and Neil Young on “I God ID” and the 2000s team up of Nickelback‘s Chad Kroeger and Saliva‘s Josey Scott on “Hero,” it’s a rock meets rock situation of bands that travel in similar circles.

But it can be equally interesting to venture outside the genre lines, like when Anthrax and Public Enemy delivered one of the first rap-metal pairings on “Bring the Noise” in the ’90s and Linkin Park championed the mash-up movement by teaming with Jay-Z on the 2000s “Numb / Encore.”

And not every collab was meant for radio play, as Alice In Chains pulled in Elton John for the big titular emotional moment on their Black Gives Way to Blue album.

Whether the idea for the pairing was lofty in expectation or merely attempting to accentuate the mood of a key album track, there have been some amazing collaborations worthy of the recognition. So join us as we look at the best rock and metal collaborations of the 1990s and 2000s below.
