In tandem with the release of Genome 2.0, Two Notes Audio Engineering has launched a free entry-level version, Genome Intro.

Genome Intro is available in AU, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS and Windows.

Even as a free offering, Genome Intro is a fairly comprehensive collection, including four amp models, fourteen pedals, five cabinets, and four studio FX.

Genome Intro is powered by CODEX, an AI amp playback engine that allows you to load and play captures from Neural Amp Modeller, AIDA-X, and Proteus inside one streamlined workspace.

The included amp models are Albion ‘59 (Marshall Super Lead 1959), Gemini ‘64 (Fender Twin Reverb), Peggy ‘76 (Ampeg SVT 1796), and PVH50 (Peavey 5150).

It takes more than a good amp sim to save my guitar playing, but it’s always great to have options, and there are a few great freebies to add to your collection, like Audio Assault’s Amp Locker.

Among the included pedals are a few iconic models, such as the Green Meanie (Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer) and Foxy Wah 46 (Vox V846).

Featured DynIR virtual cabinets are also inspired by legendary models, including the Fender Bassman, Peavey 5150, and the Ampeg V-9 bass cabinet.

While the studio FX collection might feel a little light compared to the paid versions of Genome, you still get some useful additions, including Studio Twin Tracker, EQ, Reverb, and CODEX.

Genome Intro also features MIXFIT, a refinement section that lets you shape your sound from end to end.

There are three versions of Genome:

  • Genome Intro (FREE)
  • Genome (€129.99 – currently on sale for €89.99)
  • Genome Suite (€299.99 – currently on sale for €159.99)

The paid versions offer a significant boost in quantity and a few extra features, but the freebie is still an all-in-one solution for finding the right tone.

If you don’t feel like Genome Intro is enough, but you don’t want to pay for a full upgrade, component packs, DynIR virtual cabinets, amps, pedals, and FX are available for individual purchase.

If you’re a Linux user and don’t want to miss out on the guitar-related freebies, check out Amp Squeezer by Clack.Digital.
