The anonymous woman that had accused rap mogul Jay-Z of rape in a lawsuit has just gone back on her claims. According to her new statement, she never even met Hov.
According to her original claims, Jane Doe alleged that Jay-Z raped her at a party in the year 2000, when she was 13 years old. Attorney Anthony Buzbee and his firm were the ones helping her sue Jay-Z, but were in turn sued by Jay-Z’s team over false claims. In Feb last year, Jane Doe’s case was dismissed upon admission of having made mistakes in her story.
Her new lawyer J. Blair Newman still claims that his client was sexually assaulted, just not by Jay-Z. Apparently, this was a case of misidentification. Jay left her out of the countersuit but has sued Buzzbee and firm still.
“My allegations that Shawn Carter raped me or otherwise sexually assaulted me were false,” the anonymous woman mentioned in her statement. She also went on to acknowledge reputational harm to Jay-Z’s credibility.
“I have never met Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever. There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr. Carter. I understand that my false accusations have caused Mr. Carter immense pain, suffering and damage that can never be fully undone. I sincerely and unconditionally apologize to Mr. Carter for the devastating harm I have caused to him, his family, and his reputation.”
Jay-Z is now legally in the clear, although the damage to reputation and mental health may be more intangible.
