Sketch Audio has released a low-pass filter and distortion effect for Windows, macOS and iOS. Series 9000 contains the same sixth-order filter found in a rackmount sampler from the late 1980s.
The steep, 36 dB/Oct rolloff makes this filter cut away a mix in an extremely satisfying way. Like the hardware, it won’t close completely, so you’ll still hear the backbone of your sound coming through, even with cutoff at minimum.
The plugin pairs the classic filter with some original additions, in 4 controls:
- Cutoff: Filter cutoff.
- Drive: Custom saturators embedded in each filter stage (fully clean at 0 dB).
- Q: Filter resonance.
- Env: Envelope follower modulation of the cutoff, with adaptive release.
The latest in the “Nugget Basket” series of free plugins with new entries rolling out every month, Series 9000 is available in VST3, AU, AUv3, AAX and CLAP formats. Users that want to dig in further can step up to Scissor Hands, which adds a high-pass filter, more filter orders, and deeper modulation options.
